Are there safe havens for female victims of domestic violence? We have houses in America that are secret locations, known to a network of sympathetic volunteers. Women and children can go there as a first step to breaking a cycle of violence. There have to be consequences for perpetrators, but also compassion as they, too are victims of a hateful history -- they need education most! There are some wonderful anger management programs that have been developed. And there is strength in numbers. Demonstrations of peaceful resistance can be effective, but all these suggestions can elicit strong retribution and more violence toward women unless they are well organized, publicized, and supported by authorities.
