The promotion of the book “Violence against pregnant women in Bosnia and Herzegovina: family, health system and labor relations” by dr. sc. Zlatan Hrnčić was held at the Hotel Europe, Sarajevo, on March 9, 2022.
The publisher of the book is the TPO Foundation, and its promotion was held as part of the project UNIversity and Gender Mainstreaming (UNIGEM) which is financially supported by the British Embassy Sarajevo.
The promoters of the book were prof. dr. Zilka Spahić Šiljak, program director of the TPO Foundation, prof. dr. Dželal Ibraković from the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Sarajevo and Aida Džaferović, on behalf of the Association of Pregnant Women and Mothers – TIM. The promotion was moderated by journalist Kristina Ljevak.
The book “Violence against pregnant women in Bosnia and Herzegovina” is intended for the professional and scientific community, but also for all other stakeholders who aim to contribute to creating a better social environment for family planning, improving women’s reproductive health and social policies in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The author connected the cause-and-effect factors of pregnancy, intimate partnerships, society’s expectations and defining the conditions for harmonizing the business and private environment. The focus is on the barriers that women have defined by the fact that they are those who are susceptible to risk factors for violent patterns of behavior within the health system, work relationships and intimate partnerships during pregnancy.
The promoters emphasized the importance of this work with the courage shown by the author to write about women and their rights within the health, work and family systems.
