WITHIN THE PROJECT "Social inclusion of Women Returnees in B&H"
WORKSHOPS: PEACE AND RECONCILIATION

The TPO Foundation, in cooperation with organizations PO Fondacija u saradnji sa Lara Bijeljina, Medica Zenica, Udružene žene Banja Luka, Krajiška suza Sanski Most, Centar za mir Sanski Most and Forum žena Bratunac, held workshops on the topic of "Peace and Reconciliation" as a part of the project "THE SOCIAL INCLUSION OF WOMEN RETURNEES IN BIH".
The goal of the project is to strengthen women returnees in the areas of employment as well as health care and welfare, but also to create a better social environment which would sustain the returning process. The TPO Foundation did an estimation of the field, which showed a need for various kinds of education and training. In that direction, the Foundation is intensively implementing workshops in the area of psychosocial aid and gender-sensitive analysis. Considering that most of the returnees, especially those in rural areas, showed interest for dialogue and cooperation, emphasizing they are pretty isolated

and that communication with other ethnic and national groups is minimal, or non-existent, the TPO foundation broadened its specter of educational activities and held workshops on the topic of "Peace and reconciliation," from the perspective of monotheistic religious traditions of Orthodox Christianity, Catholicism, and Islam.
At the same time, through these workshops, the TPO Foundation attempts to raise awareness of the gender dimension of peacekeeping promoted by the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security, which is one of its important goals.
The workshops, which lasted around three to four hours, with a combined methodology of introductory presentations, work in groups and plenary sessions, were held by  Zilka Spahić-Šiljak, Ph.D,  Milica Bakić-Hayden, Ph.D and  professor Alen Kristić who prepared texts and presentations for these workshops, which will be held in three more local communities in BiH in 2010.
