BEGINNING OF THE FIRST MODULE OF THE POLITICAL ACADEMY IN BANJA LUKA
First module of the Political Academy titled Political participation of youth and their role in creating gender/sensitive politics was opened on Thursday, November 29th 2013 in Banja Luka. The Academy was opened by His Excellency Swiss Ambassador Mr André Schaller, while opening speeches were also given by the General Secretary of the National Assembly of Republic of Srpska Ranko Karapetrović and Ilija Trninić, the director of Perpetuum Mobile non-governmental organization. The best thirty (30) young men and women politicians from the one-day workshops in gender sensitive politics started with lectures and educational activities, which goal is to empower young politicians in the domain of gender politics and its implementation within their parties and local communities. One of the first lectures at the Academy was Development of (modern) political consciousness and modules of political participation
lectured by Aleksandar Savanović, while on Friday the 30th of November participants had a chance to listen to Jelena Milinović (who holds the MA in Gender Studies, and works at the Gender Center of RS) on the topic Explanation of basic vocabulary in gender and contextualization of gender in BiH. Among other lecturers, students had a chance to hear Dijana Tepšić, Jasmina Čaušević, Gorana Mlinarević, Nenad Galić, Kanita Jajetović, and many other professionals in the field of gender and politics. Except lectures participants also had a chance on Friday to view 8-minute long film titled I can do it, which was followed by great discussion among the facilitator and participants. The Academy ends on Sunday,December 2, when participants get instruction on how to write seminars, and information on submission of the same
