LOCAL INITIATIVES IN LIVNO

In the framework of the project “Gender inclusive community in BiH”, with UŽ “Li-Woman” in the role of local partner implemented on the area of Municipality of Livno in 2012. year, held a two-day seminar for young leaders. At the training, which was held on the 1st and 2nd december of 2012, special activity was the development of design ideas in the local community, where the two proposals where chosen amongst others, “The position of women in the community” and “Young activists are helping the elderly”. These groups of young people have shown once again that they certainly have the potential to initiate and implement change in their local communities in order to improve and develop gender-inclusive community.
There was 21 young people that participated in the training from 4 municipalities: Livno, Bosansko Grahovo, Glamoč and Drvar. During the 2012, on this area reasearch was conducted about social inclusive of women in that area. The training was led by Emina Abrahamsdotter and Jasminka Borković.
Two day training was based on interactive work, through presentations and a lots of excercises, Handbook of leadership was presented which is an integral part of the project “Gender inclusive community in BiH”. The leaders of the training conducte selection of two best project suggestions for gender-inclusive policies in the two local communities, and LI-Woman has made a deposit of fund for their implementation.
Proposals were selected from group of participants out of Glamoč, led by Elvedina Vojić (named “Position of women in the local community”), and young adults from Livno (project named the “Young activists are helping the elderly”).

The goal for the both project were to show managing skills, which they acquire during the training about the lidership and implementation of the same in their local societies.
-  The Bos. Grahovo project included a tour of two of the local community, sharing food packages to households in remote villages about 40 km from Bos. Grahovo, which are not easily accessable.
-The first activity in Glamoč was conducting the survey on the situation of women in Glamoč, which showed that there isn't any women in the public life of this community, that none want to talk about questions on equality, that most of them do not recognize the importance of gender and social inclusion of women, and that they do not see the leader in women. It was also apparent that violence is present in a large percentage, but it is not publicly spoken about.
-The most important conclusion of meetings in Glamoč is their decision to initiate the procedure for the formation and registration of associations of women, which would deal with the issues of women, equality and equal opportunities. This is particularly important because in there isn’t any association of women in Glamoč that are still running. ( there was two couple of years ago but they were shut down)
Conclusion of the project implementers, trainer of two day workshop for youth leaders and citizens that we have had the opportunity to hear, is that this group of young people certainly have the potential to initiate and implement change in their local communities. LIGEZA web portal, which is located within the TPO website has enabled the participants to express their opinion about the previously described activities, as others have done, and in this way contributed to the advancement of the forum.
