SECOND MODULE OF THE POLITICAL ACADEMY TITLED "GENDER AND SOCIAL POWER"

Second module of the Political Academy titled Gender and social power was opened on Thursday, January 31th 2013 in Sarajevo. The opening speech was given by His Excellency Swiss Ambassador Mr André Schaller, while the first lecture was given by the professor of the Faculty of Political Science, Dr. Besim Spahić.
Twenty five (25) young men and women politicians from the one-day workshops in gender sensitive politics started with the second cycle of lectures and educational activities, which goal is to empower young politicians in the domain of gender politics and its implementation within their parties and local communities. The first module of the Academy was held in the period of November 29th to December 2nd 2012 at the National Assembly of Republic of Srpska in Banja Luka, while the second module is being held at the premises of the Parliament of BiH, Sarajevo, 1/1 room, in the period from January 31st to February 2nd 2013. 

The aim of the second module is to introduce and understand the main concepts of gender terminology and the analysis of gender relations in the context of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the context of masculine/masculinized power and control. The special accent will be placed on the accomplishements of women's movement in BiH and the empowering of Academy's participants for development, and changes of the existing local gender action plans and their integration into the official local strategies of development. During the second module, the participants will have an opportunity to learn more about developing skills, networking and practicing of theoretical knowledge.
Lectures on this module are also eminent individuals from the political and public life of Bosnia and Herzegovina, such as MuberaBegić (Office of the coordinator for the reform of public sector in BiH), BesimaBorić, dr Nada Ler Sofronić, mr. sci. Zlatiborka Popov, etc.
