ROUND TABLE IN MODRIČA – PRESENTATION OF THE DOCUMENT "PLATFORM OF WOMEN'S PRIORITIES FOR CONSTITUTIONAL REFORM AND AMENDMENTS TO
THE CONSTITUTION OF BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA FROM A GENDER PERSPECTIVE"

On October 24, 2013 at the round table held in Modriča, the members of the Women's Initiative for Constitutional Reform presented the document "Platform of Women's Priorities for Constitutional Reform and Amendments to the Constitution of Bosnia & Herzegovina from a Gender Perspective".
The members of the initiative presented to the participants five priorities within the reform process of the Constitution of BiH, as well as gender-sensitive Amendments defined within the initiative.
The policy document "The Constitution and Gender: Analysis of Possibilities of Gender Sensitive Reform of the Constitution of BiH" was presented to the participants as well. The basic idea of the study was to review and to provide insight into the existing initiatives for the constitutional reform in Bosnia and

Herzegovina, to define gender aspects of the constitutional reform and to explore and indicate all initiatives and projects that are aimed at such a context of constitutional reform, and finally to make recommendations for a gender-sensitive reform of the Constitution of BiH.
In the discussion, participants emphasized that it is very important that male and female citizens support the initiative and proposed priorities and amendments to the Constitution of BiH from a gender perspective, because women in Bosnia and Herzegovina can not realize their basic rights. There are large differences in the realization of the rights in different entities, and it is important that the BiH Constitution as the highest legal act of the state, regulate these issues.
