Volunteers – students of the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation and the Faculty of Philosophy in Tuzla (Volunteers of the Union of Students of the University of Tuzla) – in cooperation with TPO Foundation realizing the Project “Psychosocial support in BiH”, are trained through two two-day trainings for volunteer work with children and youth. Educational and creative workshops, which volunteers realize with children and young people in the areas affected by floods and landslides, are held in three meetings with the same group, in order to assess the psychosocial needs of children and youth who have suffered damage after last year's floods, but also provide the necessary support through psychosocial workshops and interactive meetings. Considering that BiH is still in need of greater support of volunteers and professionals from all areas, so a psychosocial support is necessary for the children and young people with different traumatic experiences so as to overcome the trauma and
stabilization of emotional state and improvement of conditions for the proper development of personality. The workshops with children and youth were held in Tuzla Canton in Donja Obodnica, Stanic River - Doboj East and Kikaci - Kalesija. Seven organized workshops brought together 113 children aged 6-15 years. Fourteen volunteers participate in the preparation and implementation of workshops. Getting-to-know-you icebreakers, conversations about their wishes, dreams, and problems, drawing with a variety of techniques (reactivation of stressful events through drawing), talks about the drawings, outdoor games, board games, games for the development of motor skills – these are all the ways for acquiring new experiences, mutual trust and friendship, but also for the encouragement of the feeling of unity, cooperation of volunteers and youth, with the common desire for further work on the education of children and youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
