THE THIRD TWO-DAY TRAINING OF VOLUNTEERS OF THE UNION OF STUDENTS HELD IN TUZLA

TPO Foundation organized the third two-day training of volunteers of the Union of Students in Tuzla on May 9 and 10, 2015. Participants of training (32 volunteers) are students of the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation, the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. The training for volunteers is a part of the project "Psychosocial support in BiH". Guided by the principles of voluntarism, education refers to the execution of

psychosocial workshops and interactive meetings with children and young people aged 7-15, in the areas affected by last year's floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina in Tuzla Canton. Young volunteers come from the Bosnian-Herzegovinian cities - Derventa, Modrica, Teocak, Gornji Vakuf-Uskoplje, Maglaj, Doboj Istok, Zavidovici, Tuzla, Kalesija, Ljubuski, Zivinice, Gradacac, Gracanica, Srebrenik, Mostar, Brcko, Doboj, and from Croatian cities – Rijeka and Vukovar.

The training was led by Dr. Amra Delic, a neuropsychiatrist and psychotherapist from Tuzla, an activist in the field of human rights, dialogue and reconciliation. A motivating video America's Health Volunteers, considering many years of experience of volunteers and their motivations for volunteering, is shown to young volunteers on the first day of training. Students were acquinted with the provisions of volunteerism, as well as the rights and obligations of volunteers and volunteer organizers. During the presentation the purpose of volunteering is emphasized, and it is reflected in the internal sense of human fulfillment. A volunteer Irma Ramic presented the work of the Crisis Staff during last year's floods and informed the audience about the problems and obstacles in voluntary work. Experiences indicate to a lack of organization of volunteers, no connection to the local authorities, working without adequate equipment, lack of trained volunteers, not knowing the terrain, lack of information and the like. In conclusion, good coordination of volunteer forces can only be ensured by cooperation of spontaneous and trained volunteers, especially during natural disasters. Participants did the exercise "Unique and Shared," and the goal of the exercise is to introduce and build a team, which is also the primary task in establishing the organization of a volunteer group. Through this exercise are determined the common characteristics and capabilities, as well as qualities

by which individuals stand out. A practical exercise through SWOT (Eng. Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat) analysisserved as a tool for strategic planning of future volunteer activities. Volunteers are familiar with the importance of the organization's management of volunteers in case of natural disasters. The second day of training with a focus on the specific work with children and young people included the psycho-social aspects of the crisis and levels of support, getting to know the characteristics of the crisis, traumatic reactions of children and young people in the event of natural disasters, outcomes after crisis events, PTSD symptoms in children and adolescents, and the importance of the game in the recovery process. Pointing to the basic goals of psychological help after a crisis, dr. Amra Delic gave general guidelines and instructions on the proper way of communication with adults and children, emphasizing the discreet and compassionate approach.
A coordinator of the Union of Students in Tuzla, Irma Ramic, presented the recordings of workshops which were organized by volunteers trained in the previous two held training. The material encouraged young volunteers to fully demonstrate volunteerism and activism using knowledge, personal qualities and skills. In this way, volunteers contribute to solving many of the problems caused by last year's floods and landslides in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
