PROMOTION OF THE PUBLICATION “Gender Stereotypes:Sounds Familiar?” IN TUZLA
On December 02, 2015 the promotion of the publication ''Gender Stereotypes:Sounds Familiar?'', exposition of the comics from ''Bogey FemiTeaching'' edition and performance ''Cut'' were organized at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Tuzla within the international campaign ''16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence''. The promoters were Professor Jasmina Husanović from the Faculty of Philosophy and Monja Šuta-Hibert, the editor of this publication. Professor Husanović
stated on this occasion that this publication, with its content which is not exclusively academic, gave an opportunity to question deeply rooted stereotypes thoroughly and the present teachers agreed on that the publication is an excellent reading material for primary and secondary school children because it brought closer this issue in its simple language and manner and it would be gladly seen in syllabuses.
A vivid discussion was also a part of the promotion in Tuzla followed by anecdotes and courageous moves of students who did not want to be the slaves of these stereotypes and they continued their struggle persistently every day.
The promotion was crowned with TPO Foundation’s thanks to Faculty of Philosophy for cooperation, and the present ones could take a copy of this very publication for further education and awareness raising.
Beside this, the thing that always draws the
greatest interest, particularly that of young participants is the “Bogey Femi Teaching” comics’ edition and so it was this time as well. Professors and students stopped, discussed and posed readily and smiling in front of the exposed comics.
This was one more in the series of activities implemented by TPO Foundation Sarajevo in cooperation with its partners in order to raise awareness on gender based violence and how to start treat it as a relevant social problem.
