CONVERSATION WITH MYRA STROBER - BOOK LAUNCH ''SHARING THE WORK''
Author Myra Strober, a long-time professor at Stanford University, has been engaged in themes of economy of work, family and gender equality. Professor Strober is one of the founders of Gender Studies at Stanford University and expert witnesses for issues of assets' fair distribution between spouses.
The book "Sharing the Work" is an autobiography and it portrays exceptionally the life of first women at American universities, their battles against discrimination, men lobby, traditional views on role of women in society and efforts of women to establish themselves in academic community and to balance family life and career. Professor Strober was online and read two parts from her book and answered the questions from audience.
One of the questions was what motivated her to keep going on and Myra reminded the audience one more time of the first chapter in the book and her anger and adrenalin that helped her to fight discrimination at Berkeley University.
Another question was about women who disrupt her struggle and who even support male-dominated policies and culture, and she answered quickly: ''I ignore them. I am so busy with my work and do not have time to pay attention to women and men who are against the cause I am fighting for.''
Myra concluded that for the sake of her daughter and her students she would continue her work in empowering women and men to understand why sharing the work is good for both of them.
