CELEBRATING IWD THROUGH  DISCUSSIONS
ON POLITICAL RIGHTS AND EDUCATION WITH TEACHERS
FROM MUSA ĆAZIM  ĆATIĆ ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN VELIKO ČAJNO
	    

"We all need to honor mothers,  devote attention to all women and express gratitude for the effort they put  into raising new generations and the entire world", said one of the teachers from Musa Ćazim Ćatić Elementary school in  Veliko Čajno where TPO Foundation organized a lecture on March 5, 2018,  under the title "What IWD means to us today: Political rights and education of women  in BiH". The lecture was held by Ismeta  Begić, the school pedagogue, and Melika  Šahinović, TPO Foundation project coordinator.
After the introduction about the historical  significance of March 8, a brief discussion on the roles of women and men in  society took place. The attendees discussed work distributions and concluded  that women should work more on distribution of responsibilities so that all  family and community members equally understand the importance of family, home  and all other obligations.
		  
"We live in patriarchic environments which have a  major influence on the roles of women and men, and this is certainly one of the  reasons why there are not enough women in politics but also in leading  positions in the economy," said  one of the young interlocutors, adding that due to the accumulated obligations  they have towards their families and home, women become less motivated in terms  of political participation and promotion in the business environment.  Participants concluded that education is a priority in overcoming all obstacles  in the society, and that quality education and the active participation of all  citizens in the community can contribute to the development of a stable  democratic society.
