UNIGEM: 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM - IMPLIED BIBILITY AND STEREOTYPES

Albert Einstein's famous quote "It is much harder to break prejudice than an atom" also speaks about the challenges of combating stereotypes and prejudices. Therefore, the discussion on this topic is extremely important. Prof. dr. Jasna Kovačević, on Monday, November 15, 2021, held the first of three Zoom workshops for students of the University of Sarajevo, on the occasion of marking the global campaign of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.

The workshop thematized implicit biases, stereotypes and discrimination. The workshop leader presented the path from prejudice to discrimination and in what forms of discrimination can occur. Students from the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Philosophy, the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Education responded to the invitation to the workshops and actively discussed their own experiences with stereotypes and discrimination. In the continuation of the week, workshops on the feminization of poverty and feminist legal theories will be realized with prof. dr. Valid Repovac Nikšić from the Faculty of Political Sciences (November 17, 2021) and prof. dr. Amila Ždralović from the Faculty of Law (November 19, 2021).

A series of workshops was organized as part of the University and Gender Mainstreaming - UNIGEM project, in which University of Sarajevo participates as a partner institution.
