UNIGEM: 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM - UNIVERSITY OF BIHAĆ


On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is celebrated on November 25, at the University of Bihać on November 17, 2021. Three workshops were realized within the campaign "16 days of activism". On that occasion, topics such as:

Gender segregation based on gender, led by doc. dr. sc. Jasmina Bešlagić, and within which it was said about the emergence of the division of labor into men and women, and that women in the line of professional advancement very often encounter (in) visible limitations. On that occasion, the causes of these phenomena, ways of prevention and elimination were also discussed, and certain statistical indicators were presented;

Ways of exercising legal protection of women in the legal order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which he led abroad. prof. dr. sc. Albin Muslić, and addressed the issue of mechanisms for the protection of women in cases of discrimination and mobbing, with special emphasis on the possibility of initiating proceedings for compensation of non-pecuniary damage, which is often the result of discriminatory and mobbing actions and behavior towards women;

Implementation of the Istanbul Convention in Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by doc. dr. sc. Nikola Findrik, which spoke about forms of gender-based violence, treatment of violence in the legislation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the implementation of the Istanbul Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Students from different faculties, cycles and years of study at the University of Bihać took part in the workshops, and during the workshops they took an active part through discussions and comments.

These activities are part of the UNIGEM Project (University and gender mainstreaming) implemented by the University of Bihać in cooperation with the TPO Foundation from Sarajevo and partner universities from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.
