UNIGEM: 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM - GENDER EQUALITY FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF WOMEN WITH DISABILITIES (UNIVERSITY OF TUZLA)
Date Novembar, 18. 2021. A workshop entitled "Gender Equality from the Perspective of Women with Disabilities" was held at the University of Tuzla in the framework of the activities: "16 days of activism - why this campaign is important", Project "University and Gender Mainstreaming (UNIGEM)".
The workshop was attended by 29 first-year students of the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Tuzla.
The workshop leader was prof.dr.sci. Vesna Bratovčić, member of the Council for Gender Equality of the University of Tuzla. The guest at the workshop was Adisa Kišić, B.Sc. Bosnian language and literature, public relations officer at the Information Center for Persons with Disabilities "Lotos" Tuzla.
Through the workshop, students were introduced to the basic concepts (gender / gender, gender equality), analyzed the current social situation, got acquainted with the legislative framework in Bosnia and Herzegovina and institutional mechanisms for gender issues.
In the second part of the workshop, B.Sc. Adisa Kišić spoke about the personal experience and perspective of a woman with a disability. Also, prof. Kišić presented the activities / projects implemented by I.C. "Lotus", which are focused on issues of position, opportunities and rights of women with disabilities.
In the final part of the workshop, the students concluded that they had not been interested in gender equality issues so far (only one student attended the workshop organized by the representatives of the organization "Viva žene" from Tuzla in his high school). Also, they were not familiar with the laws covering gender issues in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A number of students expressed their desire and interest to volunteer at IC "Lotos" Tuzla.
Also, a group of students has been identified who will prepare an activity within the "16 days of activism - why is this campaign important" of the UNIGEM Project.
