UNIGEM: 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM - PREVENTION OF GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE (UNIVERSITY OF TUZLA)
Prevention is the key to combating any form of violence. It is reflected in various activities such as: education, discussions, making available and visible contact details of institutions and persons who can help victims and perpetrators, give media space to topics of violence against vulnerable groups, etc. The first workshop was held at the Faculty of Law, University of Tuzla, 22. November, 2021, within the UNIGEM project, in anticipation of the campaign "16 days of activism" on the topic "Prevention of gender-based violence".
The workshop was attended by 41 students and they were introduced to the conceptual and substantive definition of gender-based violence. They were also introduced to the legal framework that covers the field of violence, and then through a role play they discussed the violation of human rights and fundamental freedoms from the corner: a pregnant woman who was fired, a raped girl, an ambassador, a young man whose girlfriend is addicted, etc.
The workshop was very interactive and after the exchange of opinions and "played roles", the students designed several activities that they will implement in the coming weeks. All activities aim to promote socially responsible behavior in order to prevent gender-based violence.
