UNIGEM: STUDENT ACTIVITIES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ZAGREB


Within the project University and Gender Mainstreaming (UNIGEM), students of the University of Zagreb gave their contribution by marking the campaign "16 days of activism".

On December 1, 2021, students, members of the Society of Social Work Students (DSSR) and the Association ZA-Pravo LGBTIQA + persons realized a project of making silhouettes (with the image of a woman) on which cases (accompanied in the media) of family and gender-based violence. Some printed provisions of domestic and international sources of law aimed at the prevention and sanctioning of domestic, sexual and gender-based violence have been placed on part of the silhouette.

The project was implemented in the premises of the Study Center for Social Work of the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb under the leadership of the UNIGEM project coordinator at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, Assoc. prof. dr. sc. Antonije Petričušić. The project was also supported by the head of the Study Center for Social Work, Assoc. prof. dr. sc. Gordana Berc. Upon completion, the silhouettes were placed in the premises of the Study Center for Social Work (during all 16 days of the project) so that students could be informed about the project and further raise awareness of the need for active involvement in combating gender, sexual and domestic violence. On December 8, 2021, a panel discussion was organized on "Violence against women - a view from the angle of formal support - practice, science and students in strengthening society for zero tolerance of violence against women", in cooperation with members of the Society of Social Labor (DSSR) and members of the student-teacher Association ZA-Pravo LGBTIQA + person founded at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb. The panel was moderated by Assoc. prof. dr. sc. Marina Milić Babić from the Study Center for Social Work, Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, and the participants were Vendi Keserica, univ. bacc. act. soc. from the CESI Association and Veronika Lesić, mag. soc. work and Ivona Bandula, mag. iur from the KORAK Association. The panel was held in online format, and was attended by over a hundred students of the University of Zagreb. All participants are invited to wear a black T-shirt as a sign of condolence to all deceased women victims of violence in the Republic of Croatia, especially in 2021, with an emphasis on recent tragic cases.
