Today, 8th October 2022, in “Prof. Dr Zdravko Grebo” Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Sarajevo, the TPO Foundation from Sarajevo and the Ecumenical Women's Initiative from Omiš awarded certificates to participants for attending the first online “Feminism and religion” (FER) School in the academic year 2021/2022. Certificates were presented by Prof. Zilka Spahić Šiljak, PhD, program director of the TPO Foundation and academic director of the FER School. Graduates, brave women, have academically questioned the social reality in which they live, their beliefs, attitudes, knowledge and practices on human rights and freedoms, and explored how gender stereotypes shape the lives of women and men in family and society. The program of new FER cycle, winter semester 2022/2023, was presented as well. p>
We live in a time when there are serious discussions in the world about the justification of feminism as theory and practice, feminist theology, gender and gender studies. For many, feminism and religion are incompatible concepts, feminist theology is blasphemous, and gender a "dubious" concept behind which allegedly hides dangerous conspiracies that aim to destroy family and tradition. Life experiences, however, show us that feminism, gender and religion have always been intertwined and that they affect almost all spheres of private and social life. Feminist and gender theories, theologies, and activism help us to recognize that and to adequately position ourselves against the many challenges, limitations, and discrimination that result from glossing over their connection. The school "Feminism and Religion" (FER school) is dedicated to all of the above, where participants will have the opportunity to attend five academic modules that look at gender issues in an intersectional way.
The course program of new cycle for participants of the winter semester 2022/2023 was also presented, which will offer knowledge and arguments for a different understanding and living of feminism and religion. The FER School is free and intended for all those who want to study courses at an academic level.
