As part of the “16 days of activism for gender equality” campaign, a panel discussion “Let’s talk about gender-sensitive language” was held on December 6, 2022 at the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Banja Luka (UNIBL). The panel discussion was organized by the Advisory Board for Gender Equality UNIBL, within the UNIGEM project funded by the Government of the United Kingdom, and conducted by the TPO Foundation from Sarajevo in partnership with 19 universities in BiH and the region (Montenegro, Croatia and Serbia), among which UNIBL.

During the panel discussion, which brought together the academic community and students from different members of the University, it was emphasized that it is necessary to approach the topic of using gender-sensitive language from the aspect of linguistics and the social circumstances within which it develops. The use of gender-sensitive language at the level of institutions is partly the result of adaptation to the policies necessary for the process of accession to the European Union.

The following spoke at the panel discussion: Nataša Vučenović, senior assistant at the Faculty of Philology UNIBL, Nemanja Tubonić, student of the second cycle of studies at the Faculty of Philosophy UNIBL, and Jelena Lalatović, researcher and associate at the Institute of Literature and Art in Belgrade. The event was moderated by msc. Anđela Pepić, Chairperson of the UNIBL Gender Equality Advisory Committee, who also manages the UNIBL Research Development and Support Center.
