16 days of activism: Activities of the University of Banja Luka

On the occasion of marking the “16 Days of Activism for Gender Equality” campaign, the University of Banja Luka (UNIBL), through the Advisory Board for Gender Equality of the University, is organizing a series of workshops and events dedicated to the topic of gender equality and preventing gender-based harassment and sexual violence. The activities are implemented within the framework of the UNIGEM (University and Gender Mainstreaming) project, which is financially supported by the United Kingdom Government, and which the TPO Foundation from Sarajevo implements in partnership with 19 universities in BiH and the region (Montenegro, Croatia, and Serbia), including the partner institution of- University of Banja Luka.

On November 29, 2022, the debate club “Alkibijad” of the Faculty of Law in Banja Luka organized a workshop on the topic: “I hear, I see, I react” at 2:00 p.m., and the day after, on November 30 at 5:00 p.m., the debate “Victims of violence should not be punished for exceeding the necessary defence.” Both events will be held at the UNIBL Faculty of Law.

The student organization of the UNIBL Faculty of Law is organizing a theoretical-practical workshop on gender roles on December 2 at 11:00 a.m. and on December 5 at 12:00 p.m.

The panel discussion “Let’s talk about gender-sensitive language” will be held on December 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Faculty of Political Sciences of UNIBL. The participants are Nataša Vučenović, Jelena Lalatović, and Nemanja Tubović, and the event is moderated by Anđela Pepić.

The promotion of the guidelines for the prevention of sexual harassment and gender-based violence at UNIBL will be held on December 8, 2022 at the UNIBL Faculty of Law starting at 11:00 a.m. Bojan Vlaški and Dalibor Kesić will speak on that occasion.

At the end of the Campaign, on December 9, a workshop “Understanding masculinity: how to develop gender responsibility” by Nikola Vučić will be held, at the Faculty of Philosophy of UNIBL starting at 3:00 p.m.

The motto of this year’s UNIGEM campaign is “Look, speak out against the violence”, and is part of the global campaign “16 Days of Activism”, which is marked by over 6,000 organizations in over 180 countries in the period from November 25th to December 10th with the aim of raising public awareness about the need for active engagement in the fight against violence.
