Prof. Ph.D. Zilka Spahić Šiljak, director of the TPO Foundation, participated on November 30th 2023 at the seminar “Challenges of femicide: Study of arguments for the specific criminal offense of femicide in the legal framework of Bosnia and Herzegovina.” The ELSA Sarajevo team, together with project coordinators Hana Kurtović and Hana Kunić, organized a regional event attended by 145+ participants from BiH, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Austria. During the online seminar, the participants had the opportunity to listen to presentations by eminent lecturers: prof. Zilka Spahić Šiljak Ph.D., director of the TPO Foundation, Jasmina Sazdovski, judge of the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo, and assistants of the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Law, M.Sc. Kanita Pruščanović and M.Sc. Dino Kovačević. The conclusion of the seminar highlighted the message that despite the challenges, it is crucial to work together to establish a safer environment for all women. Raising awareness, implementing effective laws and providing support to victims are fundamental steps in the fight against femicide.
