On June 7, 2025, in Sarajevo, the promotion of the book “And You, Sister, Speak” was held – a collection of texts in honor of the renowned scholar Jadranka Rebeka Anić, who dedicated her academic career and social engagement to issues of gender and religion.
Speakers included Zoran Grozdanov, Slavica Jakelić, and Ajla Demiragić, and the event was moderated by Nikola Vučić and organized by TPO Foundation and the University Gender Resource Center (UNIGeRC).
The speakers emphasized that Dr. Anić is important for dialogue and that she promotes the ethics of hope and responsible action within the community. In her works, she was the first to address issues of the anti-gender movement, publishing the book “How to Understand Gender?” (2011), for which she faced heavy criticism in Croatia. However, she is internationally recognized and respected as a critical voice within the Catholic Church and the broader public.
Dr. Anić also reflected on how important her collaboration with colleagues in Bosnia and Herzegovina has been to her, particularly with Prof. Dr. Zilka Spahić Šiljak, with whom she has worked for nearly two decades. She especially highlighted her involvement in the FER (Feminism and Religion) online school and her work within the European Society of Women in Theological Research (ESWTR), where she leads the Croatian section.
