Every year, the Third Gymnasium in Sarajevo publishes a school newsletter, created by both teachers and students. This year’s edition, titled “Youth in Action for Peacebuilding and Promoting Tolerance,” focuses mainly on activities involving teachers and students from seven Sarajevo high schools, supported by the TPO Foundation within the framework of the UNIGEM project.
As stated in the newsletter, the seven participating schools – the School for Textile, Leather, and Design, Third Gymnasium, Obala Gymnasium, the School for Traffic and Communications, the School of Fine Arts, the School of Music, and the Medical High School Sarajevo – took part in the global campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Violence Towards Women,” organized by the TPO Foundation.
Through a range of creative and educational activities, students and teachers demonstrated their commitment to fighting gender-based violence and building a more tolerant and peaceful society.
“We believe that by joining forces, we can create a generation of young people who will actively promote positive change through building a violence-free society. As always, our activities have been supported by the TPO Foundation, and we are grateful for their long-standing dedication in focusing on the values of peace and tolerance across society,” said the newsletter’s introduction, written by pedagogist Marija Knežević.
The newsletter also includes an interview with Nejra Džananović, the project officer at the TPO Foundation, who spoke about the foundation’s role in promoting human rights and gender equality.
The editors of the school newsletter are students: Lamija Krupalija from Third Gymnasium, Ena Herco from the School for Textile, Leather, and Design, Minela Pandža from Obala Gymnasium, Lamija Nezirović from the Medical High School, Edina Helać from the School for Traffic and Communications, and Ajla Kadić from the School of Applied Arts.
