On June 11, 2024, an all-day event was held at Elementary School „6, Mar“t Hadžići for students, teaching and professional staff and children from the Temporary Reception Center Ušivak.

The program consisted of the following activities:

• The second phase of the research – focus groups with students from four elementary schools in the Hadžići municipality,
• Interethic festival of sports games in the school yard, which included six minors from Camp Ušivak,
• A food festival that included six minors from Camp Ušivak,
• Comics exhibition in the school yard and music program (DJ).

The idea of ​​this day-long event was to gather students from all four elementary schools that were participants in LOC4SOC project activities and minors from Camp Ušivak, which is also an inclusive and intercultural gathering. During the event, those present had the opportunity to view parts of the comic in exhibition format, and the preparation of the comic in PDF format is in the process.

“I think that in the years ahead, through the strengthening of these social competencies and as many educations as possible, we will improve this segment and that we will be a healthy and stable society similar to the one that has integrated and much more complex communities than is the case here , in Bosnia and Herzegovina” – said the director of Primary School 6. Mart, M.Sc. Muhamed Čović.

Strengthening intercultural competences, working on stereotypes towards minority groups, raising awareness of one’s own prejudices and strengthening the local community to create an inclusive society were just some of the goals of this meeting. The school yard was filled with laughter, games, fun and socializing, which seemed like an ideal way to end the school year.

Mirza Kovačević, a member of the project team, told the media: “Bosnia and Herzegovina has become a transit route for migrants going to Western Europe, which represents a great challenge for the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, who are still looking for the right institutional answer to this problem. Every The number of arrivals in BiH is increasing, and local communities where temporary reception centers are located are exposed to the risks of developing anti-migrant sentiment, which further complicates social cohesion and inclusion had the opportunity to learn more about this issue, to include them in the whole story, to educate them, and we are happy that we found positive reactions”.
