Various Activities at Three UNSA Faculties in the “16 Days of Activism” Campaign

The University of Sarajevo participated in the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign with a series of activities organized across three faculties. The campaign, implemented as part of the UNIGEM project by the TPO Foundation, aimed to raise awareness about gender-based violence.

On November 26, 2024, the campaign was launched at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine under the slogan “Support Victims and Survivors”. This global initiative, which is observed worldwide to draw attention to violence against women, girls, and young girls, was actively marked in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well. During the campaign, a large sheet of paper was displayed at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine for visitors to leave messages of support.

The campaign concluded on December 10, and this was an opportunity for students and professors to come together, showing solidarity and support for victims and survivors, while raising awareness about the importance of fighting against gender-based violence.

On December 6, 2024, the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education (FASTO) held a workshop for women titled “Strength and Confidence: Tae-Bo and Self-Defense Techniques for Women”. The workshop was led by Prof. Dr. Lejla Šebić and Prof. Dr. Safet Kapo. More than 100 women participated, where the professors provided theoretical and practical knowledge and skills related to strength, self-confidence, and self-defense techniques for women.

The third activity at the University of Sarajevo was a panel discussion on “University and Gender Equality”, organized at the Faculty of Political Science on December 9, 2024. The panel was organized by Prof. Dr. Sarina Bakić and assistant Selma Alispahić with the support of the TPO Foundation.

Prof. Dr. Amila Ždralović spoke about the Gender Equality Council of UNSA, while Lamija Subašić, MA, presented the project “Introducing Gender-Sensitive Policies into Higher Education” (UNIGEM).
