From November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, to December 10, International Human Rights Day, the University of Mostar participated in the global “16 Days of Activism” campaign as part of the UNIGEM project in 2024. The goal of the campaign, organized by the TPO Foundation, was to raise awareness about gender-based violence and promote gender equality.
Throughout the campaign, a series of workshops and lectures were organized, covering topics such as “What Would You Do?”, “Red Flag/Green Flag”, “Misogyny: The Silent Enemy of Equality”, “Economic Violence Against Women”, “Violence Against Women in the Contemporary Labor Market”, and “Violence Against Women with Disabilities”.
Special attention was given to the concepts of gender equality, non-discrimination, and unconscious bias.
Among the events, a Film Day stood out, featuring the documentary “Becoming” by Michelle Obama.
Additionally, an informational booth titled “Your Voice for Equality” was set up on December 10 in the lobby of the Faculty of Philosophy. The booth aimed to inform students about gender equality and gender-based violence through promotional materials. By participating in the campaign, the University of Mostar once again demonstrated its commitment to fighting all forms of violence and promoting a society based on equality and respect for human rights.
